West Africa Blue Economy Advocates

The West Africa Blue Economy Advocates (WABEA) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development and economic growth across the 16 coastal nations of West Africa. We recognize the immense potential of the blue economy—encompassing marine resources, fisheries, renewable energy, and coastal tourism—as a driver of economic prosperity. Our goal is to ensure these resources are managed sustainably, benefiting both present and future generations.

Our Vision

Our vision is a thriving, sustainable, and inclusive blue economy in West Africa—one that safeguards marine resources, uplifts coastal communities, and drives long-term economic growth through responsible policies and investments.

Uniting West Africa for a Sustainable Blue Economy.

Blue Economy, Green Future

At WABEA, we believe in uniting key stakeholders—government agencies, private sector leaders, environmental groups, and local communities—to create policies and initiatives that foster economic resilience while protecting marine biodiversity. By integrating traditional knowledge with innovative solutions, we advocate for responsible ocean governance, equitable opportunities, and environmental stewardship.

FOUNDER'S MESSAGE

Welcome to the West Africa Blue Economy Advocates (WABEA).

I founded WABEA with a deep passion for sustainable development and a commitment to securing a better future for the coastal communities of West Africa. The blue economy presents an incredible opportunity to harness marine resources responsibly while driving economic prosperity. However, without proper policies, financial support, and community involvement, these resources remain underutilized or at risk of exploitation.

At WABEA, we believe in uniting voices—policymakers, businesses, environmentalists, and the people whose livelihoods depend on the ocean. Through collaboration and advocacy, we can create a thriving blue economy that benefits everyone, ensuring environmental protection, job creation, and economic resilience. I invite you to join us in this mission. Together, we can make a lasting impact for generations to come.

Daniel Bayo Omonira,
Founder of WABEA
